Mark Gonsalves, President and CEO of NRESG, has transformed a 20-year passion for real estate into a radical new investing approach for individuals and families across the nation. Born in Western Massachusetts to a solidly middle-class family, Mark was raised with the strong values that preach a decent education and a good job are the way to ensure your future. Mark followed that traditional logic, graduating from Virginia Military Institute and entering the United States Army. An admitted "learning addict," Mark took every training Uncle Sam offered - Airborne, Ranger, Special Forces, Jungle Survival, and Foreign Languages.
A new wife and plans for a family led Mark to leave the service - what he called his "dream job" of jumping out of airplanes - and pursue a 9-to-5 life in corporate America. A transfer from the West Coast to his native New England came as a shock to Mark. The "economics of the East Coast" necessitated a "downsized lifestyle" for Mark and his family - a sacrifice he wasn't prepared to make.
Mark wanted the quality of life he had on the West Coast, but without working harder and longer hours. That's when this lifelong learner chose a non-traditional educational path. Mark saw Tony Robbins on television and Tony's words rang in Mark's ears... "What would you do if you knew you couldn't fail?" Mark attended Tony's training and let that serve as a framework for his "new life"
Real estate seemed like the vehicle to achieve his dreams and Mark selected Robert Allen as his mentor for learning the ropes. Within three weeks of training in the Robert Allen system, Mark owned his first piece of property - a duplex that he flipped for a quick $16,000 profit.
Now, everything seemed to click for Mark. He read everything he could get his hands on about real estate. He invested wisely and saw his business grow. Throughout this journey Mark discovered he had a knack for teaching and training others to do just what he did. Mark became a highly sought after speaker and trainer for companies as diverse as ReMax, Century 21, Robert Allen himself and the person who started it all Tony Robbins.
As with many things in life, once you take action, opportunities seem to come your way. During this time, Mark only taught, trained, invested, and consulted, he started many businesses along the way. Since time was at a premium, Mark's strategy was to start the businesses, put the right people in place, and then let the business work for him, not the other way around.
It wasn't long before Mark saw that that same psychology could be applied to real estate. Why not let the investments work for you? Mark found a commercial real estate deal and put up his own money, then he invited others to participate. The project, Pine Dove Estates, was an unequivocal success... and Mark knew he was onto something. Many apartment buildings and shopping centers later, Mark tested the same principles on energy investments and saw similar outstanding results.
Mark sees himself now as a "deal finder" and he shares the system that brought him success with NRESG's partner-investors.
